John Heie, author of Leading from the Heart: What Workers Say about Good Leaders

John Heie had a 30-year tenure at Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the world's leading center for planetary space exploration, and spent 24 years in various management positions.  JPL conceived, developed and operated the family of spacecrafts that first reached Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.  For almost ten years, Heie was director of business operations and managed more than 1,300 people, responsible for all of the business and administrative functions of the laboratory.  Since his retirement, he has taught undergraduate classes in leadership at the University of Redlands and graduate classes at Azusa Pacific University and Biola University.  He has also taught strategic planning seminars for the German Space Agency in Cologne, and he has helped to facilitate a strategic planning effort for a large national church organization.  Heie has previously earned a bachelor's degree and a juris doctorate, and he currently resides in Rancho Mirage, California, with his wife, Dorine.  Though this is his first book, it has already won the iUniverse Editor's Choice Award.
